The 2019 Spring School on Medical Robotics (SSMR) and the 2019 International Symposium on Medical Robotics (ISMR) will be hosted together for the first time on the campus of Georgia Tech from April 1–5, 2019. The SSMR will run from Apr 1-3 while the ISMR 2019 will be held from April 3-5, with workshops on April 3, which will be common to both SSMR and ISMR. SSMR will feature a series of talks, workshops, and poster presentations, while ISMR will feature keynotes, semi-plenary talks, and workshops in addition to oral/poster presentations.
The goal of ISMR is to bring together world-class researchers to present state-of-the-art research achievements and advances in surgical robotics, image-guided interventions, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, and prosthetics, as well as discuss challenges from the clinical point of view and address industry needs. It is envisioned that medical robots will integrate emerging technologies including soft robotics, smart materials, ergonomics, co-robotics, and artificial intelligence in the near future, and these topics will be featured in the Spring School and the Symposium.
Potential topics for poster submissions to the Spring School and/or the Symposium include, but are not limited to, state-of-the-art research achievements and advances in surgical robotics, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, prosthetics, image-guided interventions, haptics, safety of robot-assisted procedures, training of medical personnel, and discussing potential challenges from the clinical point of view.
Call for Posters
We invite participants to present their late-breaking research results in the form of posters in either or BOTH of SSMR and ISMR. To do so, 1-page abstracts for poster presentations should be submitted. An abstract should include:

A title
-
A list of authors and their affiliations
-
A maximum 500-words abstract

The target event (i.e., SSMR, ISMR, or BOTH)
Authors of accepted posters are expected to register in and attend the corresponding event (i.e., SSMR, ISMR, or BOTH) to present their work during poster sessions. The accepted posters will not be published in IEEE Xplore but will appear in the Spring School/Symposium/both programs, as appropriate. All submissions will be judged based on relevance to the above-mentioned topics, technical quality, and novelty. Authors are required to submit their poster proposals via email to mahdi.tavakoli@ualberta.ca and f.rodriguez@imperial.ac.uk by February 5, 2019 February 12, 2019.
The email subject line should clearly specify if the poster is for SSMR, ISMR, or BOTH and should be in the format: “SSMR/ISMR/BOTH_Poster_(last name of the first author)”.
